Spartans Battle at the Top of the 2018 IIAC Track and Field Championships

Pella, Iowa - The Host Central College Dutch extended their Friday lead over the Spartans and captured the 2018 Outdoor Track and Field Championship title with 172 points. The Spartans finished with 144 points edging out Loras College for second place by a lone point. The women's team finished third with 150.33 points.
Tanasha Atwater won her second IIAC Women's Outdoor Field Most Valuable Performer Award (2018, 2016) alongside teammate Blaze Murfin who also won his second IIAC Men's Outdoor Field Most Valuable Performer Award (2018, 2016). Rebecca Burmahl would break the old record set in 2012 by Central College's Morgan Darrow (54.32m/178'-2.0") in the women's hammer throw in the championships with a thrilling toss of 54.86m/180'-00".
