DUBUQUE, Iowa - After weather postponed game three of the series yesterday, the University of Dubuque baseball team completed the series sweep of the Central College Dutch on Sunday by a score of 6-0.

The first five and a half innings of the game was a pitchers duel. After each time continued to match zeros, Tyler Lewan ripped a two out double to right center to keep the inning alive. Thomas Kempf followed Lewan with a single through the left side to plate Lewan and put UD up 1-0.

It remained a 1-0 game until the Spartans bats broke things open in the bottom of the eighth. Dalton Garst and Jack Lasswell began the rally with back to back singles before Thomas Kempf came up with another clutch hit, this time singling through the right side to push the UD lead to 2-0. The hit parade would continue as Will Doherty, Kellen Mitchell, Tyler Imrich and Jarad Clevenger all have RBI singles.

Tyler Carlson started on the mound for UD and moved to 2-0 on the season after going seven strong innings, scattering four hits with no runs. Nathan Schneiderman came in for his second two inning save of the weekend and his third save this season.

Over the three game series, UD pitching held the Dutch to just nine hits and one run over 27 innings and scoreless over the final 26 innings. The Spartan defense did not commit one error over the weekend.

The Spartans will travel to Rockford University on Tuesday of a single game. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
