DECORAH, Iowa- After dropping game one of the doubleheader in extra innings at Luther College, the UD baseball team bounced back in game two to rout the Norse, 15-3.

How It Happened
-Nathan Schneiderman was making in first start since March 14th , allowed a quick first inning run on two hits but settled down soon after.
-In the top of the third, UD stung together seven straight base runners, three hits, three walks and one hit batter to plate four runs.
-The Spartans pushed their lead to 6-1 in the fifth after an RBI single from Ian Meyer and RBI triple off the bat of Luke Carroll.
-Luther got one run back in the bottom of the fifth before having a four run inning of their own in the bottom half of the eighth to tie the score at 8-8.
-UD put two runners on in the top of the tenth with only one down but could not take advantage of the opportunity before Luther won the game on a RBI single in the bottom of the inning.

How it Happened
-After falling behind 1-0 early, the Spartan offense found its groove beginning in the third inning, where they would piece together five hits for three runs in the frame. Kellen Mitchell got the scoring started with a RBI double to left field to plate Garst and Lasswell. Thomas Kempf then singled to center to bring Mitchell around, giving UD a 3-1 lead.
-The Spartans put up another three spot in the top of the fourth, taking advantage of two Norse errors. Nasir Ricks and Jack Lasswell both had RBI’s in the inning with the third run coming on an error by the center fielder.
-UD blew the game open in the top of the fifth with six more runs. Thomas Kempf began the inning with a double, which Justin Jenson followed up with a home run. Another UD double from Jarad Clevenger lead to a run after an error and a Nasir Ricks single to score Clevenger and Doherty. Dalton Garst then singled to center field to bring home the fifth and sixth runs of the inning, all before recording two outs.
-Thomas Kempf singled to score a run in the seventh for his third hit of the game as the Spartans added three more runs in the top of the seventh just for good measure.

-In the game two win, seven different Spartans had a multi-hit performance.
-Dalton Garst’s four hits in game two is the most in a game this season by any Spartan.
-Thomas Kempf extends his on-base streak to 16 games after a three hit performance in game two.
