Two Spartan Goalkeepers Earn IIAC Player of Week Honors

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Two University of Dubuque soccer players earned Iowa Conference Player of the Week. Victoria Roethler of the women’s team and Brandon White of the men’s team both claimed Defensive Player of the Week honors for their play in the net.

Victoria Roethler, the freshman goalkeeper for the women’s soccer team from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, helped the Spartans go 1-0-1 on the week, tying Warburg on Wednesday and defeating Coe on Saturday. Over her 200 minutes of action on the week, Roethler grabbed 17 saves, 13 of those came against Wartburg, while allowing just one goal. Roethler is second in the Iowa Conference with 29 saves.

Brandon White (Fr., Minooka, Ill.) held down the net for UD as the Spartans went 1-0-1 last week and sit tied for second place in the Iowa Conference with a 2-1-1 conference record. In the 2-2 tie against Wartburg, White finished with 12 saves over the 110 minutes.  White played 68:20 against the Kohawks on Saturday and collected two saves in the victory.
