Volleyball Earns Road Win at Nebraska Wesleyan

LINCOLN, Neb. - The University of Dubuque volleyball continued their impressive run in the 2017 season, beating Nebraska Wesleyan 3-1 (25-20, 21-25, 25-21, 25-16) and moving to 20-1 overall this season and 5-1 in the Iowa Conference.

Trailing 19-17 in the first set, the Spartans rallied off eight of the next nine points to take the first set 25-20. After dropping the second set, the Spartans took the lead midway through the thrid set and did not look back. Winning seven of the next eight points to move ahead 15-11 and wouldnt let the set get closer than two points again. 

Like the previous two sets the Spartans won, the fourth set was very similar. After a tight set early, the Spartans used a rally around the midway point to pull away and seal the victory over Nebraska Wesleyan.

Karrah Davis came up with a double-double on Friday night as she recorded 21 kills and 13 digs. Coming off Iowa Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors, Kara Wright had six digs, three blocks and seven kills. Paige Harbort had an impressive night as she had 14 kills and added six digs. 

UD returns to the court tomorrow afternoon as they have another road contest at Buena Vista at 3:00 p.m.
