Women's Soccer Hold Rams Scoreless

BOX SCORE vs. Cornell

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women's soccer team improved to 2-1 overall after holding the Cornell College Rams scoreless in a 2-0 Spartan victory.

Both teams played back and forth the opening half with the Spartans getting some good looks in front of the Ram's goal, but as time expired it was a 0-0 tie. UD jumped out quickly in the second half and scored at 47:03 when Amanda Chlebek scored on a header off a corner kick from an assist from Lauren Cangelosi. UD would extend the score to 2-0 after Jordan Cadena scored after an assist by Cangelosi at 66:47.

UD finished with 16 shots with 10 being on goal and 22 Spartans saw action under the lights of Oyen Field. Cangelosi led with six shots and four on goal. Victoria Roethler captured the win in goal after a complete game shutout and stopping one shot on goal. The Spartans ended with five corner kicks and Cornell did not have a corner in the loss.

UD will travel this weekend to face UW-Eau Claire on Sunday, Sept. 10 at 3:00 p.m.
