Women's Soccer Hold Storm Scoreless

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's soccer team garnered a pair of goals by Lexus Rose and the Spartan defense stepped up to hold the visiting Simpson College Storm scoreless in a 2-0 victory on Oyen Field.
UD jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first half of action and ended with nine shots. The Spartans didn't allow a shot to the Storm and out shot the visitors 19-0 and finished with edge in corner kicks 14-0. Lexus Rose led the offensive with five shots trailed closely by Lauren Cangelosi who had four shots in the victory.
Paige Dykstra started in goal and didn't get a shot in 45 scoreless minutes. Megan Moll started the second half and was relieved with 16:24 by Harleigh Lewis. The trio of keepers never saw a shot and earned the shutout and their second shutout of the week. UD (5-4-1 overall, 1-1 in IIAC) will continue Iowa Conference play on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at Wartburg (6-3-1 overall, 0-2 in IIAC) in Waverly, Iowa at 5:00 p.m. before returning home on Saturday, Oct. 7 when Coe College makes the short journey to Dubuque at 1:00 p.m.
