Women's Tennis Falls To First Place Norse

DECORAH, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's tennis team hit the road on Wednesday afternoon for an Iowa Conference matchup, where they were bested by Luther College, 6-3.
Arantxa Martinez continued her tear this season, winning the number one's singles match by a dominating score of 6-2, 6-3. With the win she moved to 8-0 in singles play this season, however, her and Madeline Parker sufferend thier first loss of the season in doubles action. Ashley Palacios-Quinonez won in a tightly contested match at the number two spot, 7-5, 6-3. With the win she moves to 5-3 on the season in singles play, with all her matches coming in the number two slot. In the four spot and maybe the best match of the afternoon, Megan Ranney dug herself a hole early, dropping the first set 2-6. Ranney battled back, winning the second set without losing a game and winning the third set 10-6
With the loss, the Spartans fall to 1-2 in IIAC play and 5-3 overall. They return to the court on Saturday when they host Nebraska Wesleyan and Buena Vista at 1:00 and 4:00 p.m., respectively.
