Women's XC with Second Place Finish, Men in Seventh

WEST ALLIS, Wis. – The University of Dubuque women’s cross country team had an impressive day as they finished in second place as a team at the 2017 Warrior Cross Country Invitational. The UD men’s team finished in seventh out of 15 teams.

The senior, Jaclyn Roeder, paced the second place Spartans by finishing third overall with a time of 24:40.65. After Roeder, the Spartans had five other runners finish in the top 31 with runners finishing 11th, 13th, 18th, 19th and 31st. Abigail Ray finished 11th in a time of 25:28.80 with splits of 6:50.1, while Heather Muntz was not far behind finishing in a time of 15:36.48. Finishing back to back in 18th and 19th were Jade Romagna and Edith Flores in times of 25:51.55 and 25:55.67, respectively. Rounding out UD’s top six was Isabella Mazzanti in 31st in a time of 26:45.83.

The UD men’s team finished in seventh place, with a total time of 2:23:00.33 and average of 28:36.07. Without top runner Alec Bass, Dalton Moore was the lone Spartan to finish in the top 30, finishing in 11th place with a time of 27:29.34, seven seconds behind the 10th place runner. The Spartans had runners finish in three straight positions from 34th to 36th and all finishing within two seconds of each other. Brandon Sindt was the leader of that group, running a pace of 5:46.9 to a total time of 28:44.34, followed by Joseph Tobin in 28:45.29. Jacob Heitter rounded out the trio in 36th coming in with a mark of 28:46.64. Joel Avila was not far behind them as he finished his race a half minute later with a final time of 29:14.72.

The Spartans have next weekend off before traveling to Elsah, Illinois to the Principia Cowbell Classic on October 14th.
