A-R-C Championships Ahead for Track and Field

WAVERLY, Iowa – The University of Dubuque track and field teams will head to Wartburg College this weekend to partake in the 2019 American Rivers Conference Indoor Championships. The men’s heptathlon will get the meet underway on Friday (Feb. 22nd) morning at 10:00 a.m. and events will run all the way through Saturday, Feb. 23rd.

Notes
-The Spartan men will be going for the three-peat at the indoor championships after taking home the school’s first ever title’s in 2017 and 2018.
-Blaze Murfin (Weight Throw), Maurice Cushion-Lewis (Long Jump), Colfay Pointer (400m) will look to repeat in their respective events. Murfin was also the Most Valuable Field Performer of the 2018 meet.
-On the women’s side, Kelsey Betthauser will look to protect her title in the weight throw.
-The UD women will try to build on their fourth place finish in 2018 after posting 91.50 team points, falling 0.50 points behind third place.

-The Spartans lead the American Rivers Conference in seven different events heading into 2019 championships, four on the men’s side (4x200, Kortez Picket (Triple Jump) and Blaze Murfin (Shot Put and Weight Throw)) and three on the women’s (4x200, Kelsey Betthauser (Weight Throw) and Alyssa Skrove (Triple Jump)).
-Eight more Spartans have the second best mark in their respective events.
