BETTENDORF, Iowa - In what was supposed to be the home opener for the women's lacrosse team, the Spartans fell to Albion College, 17-1. The game was moved indoors to the TBK Sports Center in Bettendorf, Iowa because of the cold weather in the Dubuque area. 

The Spartans fell behind early and could never recover, Albion limited UD to just four first half shots and scored 12 goals of their own to put UD down 12-0 at halftime. UD was held scoreless until the final four minutes of the game when Sara Rose found Lizzie Kelly for the quick one-time, man-advantage goal with 3:38 to play. 

Sara Rose and Kori King were active on the offensive end for the Spartans, combining for nine of UD's 12 shot attempts. King added eight ground balls to go with her four shots. 

UD goalie Kaley Weir racked up 12 saves while facing 36 shots. The Britons had eight free position shots, but the Spartans stood strong, allowing just one goal on those eight attempts. 

The Spartans converted on 15-21 clear attempts against the Britons. 

The Spartans travel up to the Twin Cities this weekend for a pair game. On Saturday they will take on the University of Northwestern at 1:15 p.m. and on Sunday they take on Augsburg University at 2:00 p.m.
