American Rivers Conference Track and Field Championships Preview

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The University of Dubuque track and field teams will travel down to Cedar Rapids and Coe College this weekend to participate in the American Rivers Conference Track and Field Championships Thursday, May 9th through Saturday, May 11th.
A season ago, the women of Nebraska Wesleyan claimed the team title, ending Wartburg's run of 18-straight. On the men's side, Central won their seventh title in the last 10 years.
Heading into the conference championships, the Spartans have 22 athletes sitting in the top three of their respective events, 12 on the men’s side and 10 on the women. On the men’s side, the Spartanshold the top mark in five different events. Blaze Murfin holds three of them, being the leader in the shot put, hammer and discus. Kortez Pickett joins Murfin in the field events, leading the triple jump and Isaiah Ellis rounds out the group of leaders with the best time in the 100m dash.
For the women, the Spartans have four different women with the top mark in the American Rivers Conference. Alison Beeman sits atop the leaderboard in the 100m dash, Alyssa Skrove has the best triple jump mark, Kelsey Betthauser has the top throw in the discus and Rebecca Burmahl rounds it out with the number one throw in the discus.
