Box Score

WAVERLY, Iowa - The University of Dubuque baseball wrapped up a rain delay plagued series with the Wartburg College Knights on Sunday night with a 9-6 loss.

How It Happened
-The Spartans fell behind in a big way early, spotting the Knights six first inning runs.
-The bats on boths teams fell silent until the sixth inning when the Spartans finally got going. Brandon Ramos, who had just come into the game on defense, doubled to left field to plate two runs.
-The UD sixth inning rally continued with some small ball as Jordan Goldstein brought home a run on a ground out to the second basemen and two more runs came across as Jarad Clevenger reached on an error to continue the inning and allow Pawlowski and Ramos to score and make it 6-5.
-Wartburg got two of those runs right back off a home run and sacrifice fly in the bottom half of the sixth to push their lead back up to three runs before tacking on another run in the eighth to make it 9-5
-The Spartans would not threaten again until the ninth when Jack Lasswell doubled down the left field line with one out to put runners on second and third. One run would come across on a Daulton Kvenvold grounded out to the shortstop but that was all that UD could scratch across as the comeback fell short.
