WAVERLY, Iowa - The University of Dubuque baseball team opened their 2019 American Rivers Conference with a hard fought 3-2 win over the Knights. Chase Kueter pitched a complete nine inning game and fanned 10 Knight batters, allowed just one walk, and allowed just one earned run in the win. UD scored three runs off six hits and committed one error. Offensively Jared Clevenger went 2-3 at the plate and Daulton Kvenvold collected two RBI's and had the team's only double in the game.

In game two, UD fell behind 1-0, but took the lead at the top of the third after scoring a pair of runs. The Knights countered with two runs in the bottom of the same inning to re-take the lead 3-2. UD knotted the game at 3-3 in the fourth before the Knights scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to re-gain the lead 5-3 and held on for the 5-3 victory. UD collected six hits and three runs and committed two errors in the loss to even the day with a split in Waverly.  UD stranded seven runners on base. Zach McCoy led the offense with two hits. Jack Lasswell, Kellen Mitchell, and Justin Jensen would all finish with an RBI in the loss. Jordan Nelson got the nod for the start and would throw 6.1 innings and faced 32 batters allowing four earned runs. Nathan Schneiderman came in for relief and struck out two. Derek Hardin pitched an inning and allowed just one hit.
