DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque baseball team would split the Saturday doubleheader, winning game 1 by a 2-1 margin and losing the nightcap 1-18. Luther would take the American Rivers Conference series by winning 2-3 games.

Jordan Nelson would collect the win in game one going seven innings and allowing no earned runs and striking out eight Norse batters. Schneiderman would come in for relief and capture the save after tossing the final two innings allowing one earned run and striking our two of eight batters faced.

JJ Valencia had the hot bat and finished by going 3-3 and scoring a run. Daulton Kvenvold went 2-3 with an RBI after he singled to centerfield in the sixth for the game winning RBI.

Game two was all Norse. They would end the game in the seventh after collecting 18 runs on 17 hits as UD suffered four errors in the loss. The Spartans scored one run off three hits. Sewruk took the loss after allowing five unearned runs. Jared Clevenger earned the lone RBI in the bottom of the sixth and singled down the right field line.

The Spartans continue their home series with a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 2 against the Coe College Kohawks at 1 p.m.
