STORM LAKE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque baseball team bats struggled on Saturday, as the Spartans were swept in Saturday's doubleheader at Buena Vista by scores of 11-0 and 1-0, to drop all three games of the series. The Spartans will head into the American Rivers Conference Tournament as the #4 seed.

How it Happened
-The Beavers scored three runs over the first three innings after piecing together four hits over the two innings and got the help of two UD errors to put the Spartans down 3-0 after two.
-The Spartans best scoring opportunity came in the top of the 4th after Kellen Mitchell led off the inning with single and Zach McCoy came up with a one out single to put runners on first and third with one down. However, the Spatans struck out and flew out to stay off the board.
-Buena Vista blew the game open in the fifth, scoring eight runs on seven hits to make it 11-0, where the score would stay for the final two innings.

How it Happened
-The two team's combined for just three hits through five innings, with the best scoring chance from either team coming in the top of the fifth by the Spartans after a Zach McCoy walk and Jordan Goldstein single to put runners on first and third but UD came away scoreless.
-The score remained 0-0 through seven innings. In the bottom of the eighth, the Beavers came up with a two-out, RBI single to plate the first run of the game. The run came unearned as there was a throwing error earlier in the inning.
-The Spartans were not able to piece anything together in the top of the ninth to fall 1-0 and drop all three games of the series.
