Baseball Takes Game One Over Wesleyan

TUCSON, Ariz. - After a rainout on Tuesday, a long delay and opponent change on Wednesday, the University of Dubuque baseball team beat Wesleyan, 13-7 in the first of two matchups between the teams this week.

How It Happened
-Jack Lasswell led off the bottom of the first with and double and stole third to put himself 90 feet away from home with no outs. Kellen Mitchell brought Lasswell home on a sac fly to left field get the Spartans on the board first.
-Big innings have been a theme for UD on their spring break trip and this game was no different as the Spartans put up an eight spot in the third inning on just three hits and five Wesleyan errors.
-Wesleyan put a dent in the UD 9-0 lead in the top of the fifth when they put up four runs in the inning before there was two outs in the inning but the Spartans limited the damage to four runs.
-UD tacked on four runs over the course of the sixth and seven innings to get those four runs right back and seal the game.
