Both Cross Country Teams Earn USTFCCCA Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS, LA. – The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced their Team Academic Awards for the 2018 cross country season, with both of UD’s men’s and women’s team making the list.

For a team to be considered for this honor, it must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional meet and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10 on a 4.0 scale. Overall, there were 393 teams honored by the USTFCCCA, of which 215 were women’s teams.

The UD women racked up a team GPA of 3.84, the second highest of any team in NCAA Division III. The Spartans were just 0.01 behind the highest team GPA set by LeTourneau University. The second place ranking is the highest ranking in team ranking in program history.

The Spartan men posted a cumulative GPA of 3.27, good enough to be one of 178 men’s teams to achieve this honor.
