Football Falls Short of Conference Championship

BOX SCORE vs. Wartburg

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque football team faced the Wartburg College Knights on Saturday for the American Rivers Conference title in front of chilly crowd. The Knights jumped out to an early 10-0 lead before UD rallied to take the lead after one half 21-20. The Knights came out in the second half to score twice in the third quarter and twice in the fourth to put the game away, 47-28 over the Spartans on Senior Day.

The Knights held the ball for over 10 minutes longer the Spartans 35:04 to 24:56. The two defensive units held both run games to under 100 yards on the ground. UD's potent trio of Maurece Herrion (6 carries for 2 yds.), Dwayne Allen Jr. (15 carries for 34 yds.), and Bruno Prosper Kanam (3 carries for 21 yds.).

In the air Sean Duffy ended the game 16-22 for 198 yards through the air with four touchdowns all to receiver Kody Reimer. UD gave up over 100 yards of penalties in the loss. 

Chad Marsh compiled 15 tackles with one sack and 1.5 tackles for loss. Blaze Barista grabbed 10 tackles and an interception and Marshon Crowder had seven tackles and dropped the Knights quarterback for two sacks and three tackles for losses of 28 yards, a forced fumble and two quarterback hurries.

UD ends the 2018 season 7-3 overall and 6-2 in the A-R-C
