Men's Basketball Rally to Win Intercity Match-up

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball showed signs of being off for Christmas Holiday and were held to just eight made baskets in the opening half of action. Coach Robbie Sieverding rallied his troops at halftime and the Spartans fought from as much ad 14 points down to capture the match on Friday afternoon  by an 84-78 margin.

Five Spartans would end the day in double digit scoring. Peter Ragen led with 21 points in 28 minutes of play. Mitch Burger added 17 points off the bench and was 5-7 from beyond the three point arc. Avery Butler had 16 points and a pair of blocks as teammates Marcus McDaniel and Jason Barker would both finish with 11 points. UD made 24-67 shots from the field, 10-35 from three point area, and 26-39 free throw attempts. Michael Williams,  led in rebouding and collected 10 off the glass, but Clarke held the edge in the game 50-44. UD led for just 9:33 as Clarke led for over 26 minutes of the game.

UD improved to 8-3 overall and will travel to play at Iowa Wesleyan on Saturday, Dec. 29 at 5 p.m. and will continue the road schedule on Jan. 2 to play the Central College Dutch at 8 p.m. before returning home on Jan. 5 to host the Simpson College Storm at 4 p.m.
