Men's Golf Finishes Second at Myrtle Beach Invite over Spring Break

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The University of Dubuque men’s golf team competed in the Myrtle Beach Invitational to warm up for their 2019 season, coming away with a second place team finish and four individuals in the top 10.
The Spartans were paced by Jordan Elliot and Kane Hyde, who both came away tied in sixth place after posting a round of +7 (79). Their teammate, Garvin Paper, finished just one stroke behind with a +8 (80) to tie for eighth. UD’s Jason Sikkema rounded out the top 10 player standings with a round of +10. (82).
All five Spartan golfers had impressive performances as none finished outside the top 11, Connor Michels rounded out the UD team score with a +11 (83), to tie with five others for 11th place.
“We saw some very good stretches of golf from our guys early in the round, but we need to do a better job of finishing off rounds," said Director of Golf Dustin Bierman. "Jordan Elliot and Kane Hyde really battle for their 79’s and was proud to see that on a tough golf course. I thought our freshmen did a good job of hanging in there as well,” finished Bierman
The Spartans get their full spring season officially underway on March 29th at the Knox College Prairie Fire Invite in Galesburg, Ill.
