Men's Lacrosse Stymied By Whittier

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque men’s lacrosse team fell to Whittier (Ca.) on Saturday afternoon by a score of 19-4.

Whittier jumped out of the gates with a quick three goals in the opening 6 minutes and 29 seconds. Tanner Weis struck first for the Spartans at the 7:59 mark of the first quarter, off of an assisted goal from Ethan Senesac.

However, the Poets would stymie the UD offense, holding the Spartans to the lone goal until there was 11:36 remaining in the fourth quarter. Ben Gallgher scored the Spartans second goal of the contest after taking a pass from Gavin Hughes to make it 17-2. The Spartans and Poets would play an even final quarter, both scoring three goals. The other two UD goals in the period came off the sticks of Michael Jango and Gavin Hughes.

The Spartans forced the Poets into 19 turnovers. Andre Wagner led UD with five caused turnovers on the afternoon/

 

The Spartan men are right back at home on Wednesday, April 10th at 5:30 p.m. against Elmhurst College
