Men's Soccer Hold Carroll University Scoreless in Win

WAUKESHA, Wis. - The University of Dubuque began their season on the road and picked up the victory over Carroll University 2-0 on Friday night. The game was tied at halftime 0-0 before the Spartans scored two quick goals in the second half to improve to 1-0 on the season.
Game winning goal was by Chris Rigby at 47:07 unassisted. Minutes later Gloire Luwara off an assist by Rigby punched in the second and final goal at 58:36. Rigby led UD with three shots as teammates Cameron Scott, Charlie Mendez, Luwara, Ivan Sanchez, Noah Clarke, and Jake Persenico all finished with a shot.
The Spartans defense held Carroll to just nine total shots and four shots on goal. Keeper Brandon White collected four saves in the first shutout of the season. Both teams finished the night with nine shots each and Carroll held the edge in corner kicks 5-4 over UD. The Spartans will travel to Grinnell College on Sept. 5 for a 5 p.m. match.
