STOMP is explosive, provocative, sophisticated, unique, and appeals to audiences of all ages. Seen all over the world, this wordless production has been featured on national television shows and garnered an armful of awards and rave reviews. The eight-member troupe uses everything but conventional percussion instruments – matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, hammer handles, garbage cans, inner tubes, Zippo lighters, hubcaps, and even the kitchen sink – to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms.

The percussive hit, now celebrating 25 years since its New York debut, is always fresh with some sections of the show updated and restructured as well as the addition of two new full-scale routines utilizing props like tractor tire inner tubes and paint cans. As USA Today says, “STOMP finds beautiful noises in the strangest places.” There is no narrative; both household and industrial objects find new life as musical instruments in this unique combination of percussion, movement, and visual comedy. It is a journey through sound, a celebration of the everyday, and a comic interplay of characters communicating through dance and drum.

A free preshow CyberCafé Knapp Stage concert will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. featuring Cranes/Vultures, an indie folk rock and alt-country group featuring the musical talents of Nate Jenkins, Brad Cavanaugh, and Josh Engler. The group leans heavily on vocal harmonies and ecstatic loops.

Ticket availability is limited for STOMP. Tickets are available Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Farber Box Office, Heritage Center, University of Dubuque, 2255 Bennett Street; by phone at 563.585.SHOW; or online at www.dbq.edu/heritagecenter.
