NORWALK, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball team needed a sweep to help secure a spot in the 2019 American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) Tournament which begins next weekend. UD would rally back in both games against the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairie Wolves to collect the weekend sweep, winning game one by a 2-1 score and the nightcap 8-4.
Senior Day orginally scheduled for Dubuque would have to find a new location after five inches of snow fell in Dubuque on Saturday. A neutral site near Des Moines was chosen and UD freshman Abby McBee would return to her high school field and would collect the victory in game one and came in for relief in game two to help in the two wins.
The 2019 tournsament field was set late Sunday with Central College earning the #1 seed with a 12-4 mark and will host the tournament field in Pella, Iowa on May 3-4. The #5-seeded Spartans will open play against #4-seed Luther College on Friday, May 3 at 2 p.m. The second game on Friday will be #3-seed Wartburg facing the #6-seed Simpson at 4 p.m.
