Three Spartans Awarded A-R-C Player of Week Honors

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – On Monday, the American Rivers Conference announced players of the week for the week of September 17th-23rd. Andy Vujnovich (Football), Rylee Andresen (Volleyball) and Megan Gille (Women’s Golf) brought home honors this week for the Spartans.

Megan Gille (Stockton, Ill./Stockton) helped the UD women’s golf team to a historic weekend at the Luther Invitational.  UD won the Luther Invitational by 7 (out of eight teams) for the school's first ever title. Gille won a three way tie breaker to win the meet and claim medalist honors with a score of 80-78=158.

In the Spartan loss to Central, Andy Vujnovich finished with six punts for 241 yards for an average of 40.2 yards per punt with longest being 53 yards. He also placed three punts inside the 10 yard line, forcing Central to start drives from the eight, six and four yard line. He has punted 21 times this season for 812 yards (38.7 avg.) and has downed eight inside the 20.

Rylee Andresen (Oxford Junction, Iowa/Midland) helped the Spartans to a 2-2 record on the week, including UD's first win over Wartbrug since 2004. In the four matches, Andresen 37 kills on a .286 hitting percentage and added eight blocks on defense. In the win over Wartburg she had a team-high 13 kills and four blocks.
