Two Spartans Earn American Rivers Player of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - UD's Victoria Roethler (Women's Soccer) and Alec Bass (Men's Cross Country) grabbed Player of the Week honors in the American Rivers Conference for their respective sport. 

Alec Bass (Spring Green, Wis./River Valley) began his senior season on a high note, placing second out of 74 runners at the Mount Mercy Mustang Invitational on Friday. Bass finished just 2.6 seconds behind the winner, in a time of 15:34.9. This is the third time Bass has brought home conference runner of the week (9/10/17 and 9/4/16).

Victoria Roethler (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) picked up right where she left off in 2017, earning American Rivers Defensive Player of the Week after posting a shutout in the Spartans season opener. Roethler had six saves over 111:18 minutes in UD's 1-0 overtime win over UW-Eau Claire. She earned conference defensive player of the week honors once in 2017 (10/8/2017).
