UD Student Named Among 2019 Everyday Heroes of Northeast Iowa

Jaida Kramer, a first-year nursing major at University of Dubuque, was one of five local people honored as 2019 Everyday Heroes of Northeast Iowa by the American Red Cross.
In January 2018, Jaida was sitting in her vehicle at a stoplight when she watched a group of students cross the street. One of those students was struck by a car.
“I immediately put my car in park and rushed to help aid,” Jaida said.
She performed CPR until emergency responders arrived. Jaida said she helped emergency responders and stayed on the scene until the boy was transported to Iowa City.
“I felt like I was put there for a reason,” Jaida said.
Although she has always wanted to go into the nursing field to help people, Jaida wasn’t sure which area – until that day. She plans to become a trauma surgeon.
