Volleyball Remains Perfect in American Rivers Conference Play

DECORAH, Iowa - The University of Dubuque volleyball team remains unblemished in American Rivers Conference play after a hard fought road battle over Luther College on Tuesday night 3-2. The Spartans are also a perfect 2-0 in five set matches this season. UD won the opening set 25-18, Luther won set 2 25-16, UD won set three 25-11, Luther responded by taking the fourth set 25-21, and in the fifth set was all UD as the Spartans won 15-10.

Kara Wright led offense with game high 21 kills and a hitting percentage of .315. She added two block assists and finished with 23 defensive digs. Kendra Witte added 13 kills and a solo block. Kate Messino compiled 47 set assists and Jenna Runde was diving all over the floor to earn a game high 25 assists. UD hit .154 on the night and finished with 93 digs in the victory. Luther hit .099 and finished with 74 digs.

Next up for the Spartans (10-6 overall) is UW-River Falls (10-8) at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29 in Stoltz Sports Center. The Falcons have a trio of offensive leaders with Karli Nielsen (116 kills), Hannah Striggow (172 kills) and Dakotah Poitra (208 kills) and hit .137 as a team.
