Volleyball Sweeps Iowa Wesleyan in Straight Sets

MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa - The University of Dubuque volleyball team won in straight sets on Tuesday night on the road over host Iowa Wesleyan by set scores of 25-18, 25-15, and 25-14. The Spartans offense was led by Kara Wright who hit .292 on the nigfht and finished with match high 19 kills.
A trio of Spartans ended with 10 defensive digs Grace Strawser, Jenna Runde, and Wright. Kate Messino collected 29 set assists and Shauna McAleer had three block assists. Runde also served three service aces in the victory.
Senior Runde has 351 digs this season and moved into the Top-5 of the UD record book with 1544 career digs. She had 535 in 2017, 479 in 2016, and 179 in 2015.
UD improved to 13-7 overall and will play at the North Park/Wheaton tourney on Oct. 12-13.
