MOUNT VERNON, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's lacrosse team lost to the Cornell College Rams, 16-3 on Wednesday night. The game was originally scheduled for March 5th but was postponed due to weather.

Less than 90 seconds into the game, Sara Rose converted on a free position shot for the Spartans to give UD the quick 1-0 lead. Cornell scored two goals over the next four minutes to gain their first least of the game.

The Spartans would not trail for long as Sara Rose once again struck. This time it was an assisted goal from Kori King on a man advantage opporunity to knot the score up at 2-2 with 22:26 to play in the first half.

Cornell would regain the lead at the 17:34 mark of the first half and the score would remain 4-3 in favor of the rams until Carolyn Clemens found the back of the net with 2:51 left in the half to even it at three all. However, the Spartan offense would then go cold, allowing Cornell to score the two final goals of the first half and 11 straight in the second half.

UD goalie Kaley Weir recorded 15 saves in her 60 minutes of action.

The Spartans begin conference action this weekend when they host North Central at 3:00 p.m. at Oyen Field.
