DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women’s lacrosse team allowed just two goals in the second half, but fell to the Augustana Vikings on Wednesday's Senior Night, 13-2.

There was not much UD could do in the first half to slow down Augustana, as the Vikings would race out to a 11-0 lead in the opening half before UD could attempt a shot.

The Spartans finally got their first shot of the game off at the 23:36 mark of the second half off an attempt by Carolyn Clemens. Less than two minutes later Clemens fired again, this time getting it past the Vikings goalie for UD’s first goal of the contest, making it 11-1. UD had several chances to get the score back within single digits but the Vikings defense held strong.

Senior Kaley Weir held down the back end for the Spartans, collecting 13 saves and causing nine turnovers, nearly half of Augustana’s turnovers.

Weir, Clemens and Kori King each scooped up a team-high three groundballs, with three others grabbing one.

It was the final home game of the season for the Spartans. Beforehand, UD honored their five seniors, Sara Rose, Brooke Jones, Johanna Steggall, Lizzie Kelley, and Kaley Weir.

The Spartans close their season with three straight road contests, beginning on Saturday, April 20th with the first ever match-up against the University of Chicago. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
