Women's Lacrosse Falls to Carthage

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women’s lacrosse team played the full the 60 minutes a player down and lost to conference foe, Carthage, 25-1 to fall to 0-2 in CCIW action.

The Spartans were short handed from the beginning and Carthage took advantage, racing out to a 6-0 lead in the opening 10 minuts of play. The Spartans first and lone goal of the afternoon came 10 minutes and 35 seconds into the first half, when Kori King took advantage of a free position shot and found the back of the net. Carthage would hold the Spartans scoreless for the remainder of the game and score 19 unaswered goals.

UD goalie Kaley Weir led UD by forcing three turnovers and scooping up five ground balls. She also came away with 19 saves, 12 in the first half and seven in the second.

UD travels to St. Louis, Missouri on Monday to take on Missouri Baptist University at 1:00 p.m.
