Women's Soccer Halted by Lightning, Lose on the Road

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The University of Dubuque women's soccer team gave up two late goals on Wednesday night to suffer a 0-2 loss to the North Central Cardinals. The game was halted by lightning with contest tied at 0-0, the hosts Cardinals would finish strong and score two goals in the final five minutes of action to capture the non-conference tilt.

The Spartans offense was held in check with just two shots on goal by Isabelle Robinson and Kaitlyn White, and four total shots. UD's keeper Victoria Roethler would face 11 shots with eight being on goal. Both team finished with 10 fouls each and UD was called for four offsides. Each team ended the night with one corner kick and a yellow card.

UD will travel to face Marian University in Fond du Lac, Wis. on Saturday, Sept. 8 with a 3:30 p.m. start. The Spartans stay in Wisconsin and will play Lawrence University on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 3 p.m. in Appleton, Wis.
