Football Dominates Prairiewolves On the Road

LINCOLN, Nebr. - The University of Dubuque football team finished their 2019 season with a commanding 42-7 win at Nebraska Wesleyan University in some of their best weather of the year, a warm 58 degree day in Nebraska. Running back Dwayne Allen Jr. would surpass the career rushing mark held by Justin Spaulding 3,054 (2009-11) after rushing for 152 yards on Saturday to earn the all-time rushing record at UD with 3,086 yards. 

ON the ground, Allen carried the ball 27 times to finish with 152 yards and a touchdown on a six yard run early in the fourth quarter. Freshman Kordell Stillmunkes ran nine times for 52 yards and a 15 yard touchdown run for the Spartans final score of the day. Sayvaun Roberts ran the ball just once, but it was for a four yard touchdown score in the second quarter.

In the air it was Sean Duffy completing 19-29 passing attempts for 171 yards a two touchdowns in the opening quarter of play. One touchdown grab to Kody Reimer on a seven yard pass and one touchdown to Adam Rothas from a 15 yard grab. Emanuel Jenkins collected four passes for 57 yards, Reimer had four for 27 yards, and Jordan Labelle had four grabs for 20 yards.

In special teams, Andy Vujnovich punted four times for 171 yards and had one touchback and one placed inside the 20. He was perfect in extra points 7-7, but did miss a a field goal attempt from 42 yards.

The Spartans defense was led by Marshon Crowder who ended the day with seven tackles, and two sacks and two pass break-ups. Chad Marsh also finished with seven tackles and had one pass break-up. The Spartans finished with five sacks and two interceptions and held the Prairiewolves to 26 yards rushing and 135 yards passing.

UD finishes the season 7-3 overall, 6-2 in the American Rivers Conference and finish second in the league as Central and Wartburg tied for the conference championship with Central earning the automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Division III Championship.
