Men Finish Fourth, Women Ninth at All-American Invite

DECORAH, Iowa - The University of Dubuque cross country teams took flight at the Luther All-American Invitational on Saturday morning, with the men posting a fourth place team finish and women ninth. The Spartans had one top ten finish on either side and it came from Mark Biechler finishing ninth place.

The women's team began the college portion of the races on a perfect day for racing with freshman Stacey Kloft leading the way for the UD women with a 63rd place finish in a time of 21:24.9. Not far behind Kloft was Isabelle Mazzanti, who crossed the finishline 67th after running the 5k event in 21:34.2. The third of the top three finishers for the Spartans was Lucy Syverson, who with a time 21:48.4, finished 74th. Bailey Hammerand and Eliana Berry rounded out the Spartans top five placers with times of 22:19.6 and 22:24.4, to finish 85th and 87th, respectively.

For the UD men, Mark Biechler continues to impress on the young season, posting a ninth place finish after running the five miles in 21:28.9. Tyler Cernohous was just 10 second behind Biechler to grab a top 20 finish at 16th in a time 21:28.9. Joseph Tobin was able to haul in a top 25 finish with a time of 21:52.9 placing him 23rd. Each of the top six Spartan runners finished inside the top 40 of the 139 runners, with Tavian Rumple coming in 37th (22:16.5), Jayden Oshirak finishing 39th (22:17.6) and Michael Orcutt rounding out the bunch in 40th (22:18.2)
