Men's Basketball Sparked by Bench Play in Victory Over Dutch

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball team captured their 10th win of the season on Wednesday night with a 97-82 victory over the Central College Dutch. The Spartans bench added 35 points in the win and were led by Luke Davis III who saw his first minutes of the seson and finished with 19 points. Mitch Burger would lead UD with 22 points, seven assists, and three steals. Peter Ragen finished with a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Henry Thompson had 12 points.

The Spartans sank 33-74 shot attempts (45.2%) and made 21-25 at the free throw line (84%). UD out rebounded the Dutch 45-33 and led by as many as 18 points. The Dutch made 29-57 shot attempts, 7-19 three point attempts, and sank 17-27 free throws. UD was able to convert 15 of the Dutch turnovers into 24 points.

Saturday, the Spartans (10-5 overall, 3-3 in A-R-C) travel across town to match up with the Loras Collge Duhawks (10-5 overall, 3-3 in the A-R-C). The Duhawks average 81.7 points a game, outscored their opponents by two points a game in 2019-2020, and average 6.9 three point shots made a game. They are led in scoring by Rowan McGowen who is averaging 17.1 points a game, trailed closely by Jordan Boyd (12.3 ppg) and JT Ford (11.6 ppg).
