FINAL RESULTS

KOHLER, Wis. - The University of Dubuque men's golf team slipped on the final round of the 2019 Whistling Straits Intercollegiate Men's Golf Tournament on Tuesday to finish tied for 10th place overall. The Spartans entered in fifth place before pf the 20-team tournament and the course bit back during the final round. Brady Ellis led the Spartans with a tied for 13th place finish overall after consistent rounds of 81-84 in some very challenging windy and rainy conditions over the two-day tournament.

The open, rugged and windswept terrain defines the walking-only, links-style Straits course sculpted along two miles of Lake Michigan shoreline. A masterpiece in the world of golf created by Pete Dye, The Straits at Whistling Straits® was ranked #3 in Golf Digest’s2019/2020 America's 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses, #5 in GolfWeek’s 2018 Best Resort Courses, and #21 in Golf Digest’s 2019/2020 America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses. The 6,788-yard, par-72 layout of the iconic Straits Course at Whistling Straits proved tougher on Tuesday for the Spartans as many of the other competitors made a run in the final round to overtake UD.

The course will play host to the 2020 Ryder Cup on Sept. 22-27, the first public course to host the Ryder Cup in 29 years.
