Men's Soccer Hold #12 Central College Scoreless in Road Win

PELLA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's soccer team remained unbeaten in American Rivers Conference play with a commanding 2-0 road victory at #12 Central College Dutch. The game was moved to the turf field at Pella High Achool after the natural grass field on the campus of the Dutch was deemed unplayable due to the amount of rain recived in central Iowa the past couple of weeks. UD improved to 9-3-1 overall and an unblemished 4-0 in American Rivers Conference play to lead the league.

UD attacked early and scored the first goal of the game at 11:33 when Mathias Ericsson found the back of the net unassisted. UD held the halftime lead 1-0 over the top-ranked Dutch. Late in the game it was the Spartans Andrew Guelle finding the open Glorie Luwara for ther game's second goal of the game to give UD the 2-0 edge. 

The host Dutch had 12 shots and five on goal and UD's Brandon White held them scoress by stopping all five shots on goal and collecting another shutout to extend his shutouts to eight in 2019. White has played 1190 minutes in goal and has a goal against average of .76 and a save percentage of .828. UD had eight shots and placed four on goal. 

Corner kicks were equal with each team finishing with five each. The Spartans were called for five offsides on the night.

The schedule isn't easier for the Spartans when they host #14 Luther College Norse (9-3-1 overall, 2-2 in A-R-C) on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m. on Oyen Field for Homecoming Week. Luther enters after a 2-1 loss to the Simpson College Storm on Saturday.
