Men's Soccer Hold Prairiewolves Scoreless

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's soccer team remained perfect in American Rivers Conference action with a hard fought 1-0 win over the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairiewolves Saturday evening. 

The Spartans would score a goal earlier in the second half only to have it called back for an offsides. A few minutes later, UD would capture the first goal of the night after a picturesque goal on a cross and into the net by Alessandro Corazzina assited by Lucas Von Braun and Mathias Ericsson at 78:57. A late rally by the Prairiewolves kept the Spartan defense on call with back-to-back shots off the top post and a fully extended save by keeper Brandon White. White finished with four saves and collecting the shutout after the Prairiewolves finished with 13 shots.

UD ended with nine shots and sevenm being on goal. Josh Merkel led with two shots in the victory and UD led in corner kicks 8-7. 

The American Rivers Conference schedule doesn't get any easier for the Spartans as they will be on the road for the next week. The Spartans will meet the nights in Waverly on Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. before travelling to another strong contender in Central College on Oct. 12 at 2:30 p.m. On homecoming week, the Spartans will host Luther College on Oct. 15 on Oyen Field at 7:30 p.m.
