AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The UD baseball team could not complete the comeback against #12 Rhodes on Tuesday afternoon, falling 7-5 to the 12th ranked team in Winter Haven, Florida.

How It Happened
-After three scoreless innings, it was Rhodes who broke through first with three straight hits in the top of the fourth. The Spartans were able to strand the Lynx with the bases loaded to limit the damage to just one run.
-In the top of the fifth, Rhodes took advantage of three UD errors and plated four runs to extend the UD deficit to 5-0.
-The Spartans answered right back in the bottom of the inning, piecing together three hits for three runs to pull within 5-3.
-The two teams continued to exchange blows, with the Lynx scoring two more times in the top of the sixth, before JJ Valencia drilled a solo home run in the bottom half of the inning to make it 7-4 through six.
-The Spartans used a one out rally in the seventh and scored as Mitchell Pomeroy reached on a one out error from the Lynx defense to allow Jordan Goldstein to score. UD would strand runners on second and third but were back within two runs with six outs to work.
-However, the Spartans would leave the tying runs on base in both the seventh and eighth innings to fall 7-5.
