Spartans Volleyball Sweep Dutch in Three Straight Sets

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque volleyball team won by sets of 25-14, 25-18, 25-16 to capture Friday night's tilt 3-0. Saturday, Oct. 26, the Spartans play host to the Simpson College Storm at 1 p.m. in Stoltz Sports Center.
UD moved into the top half of the conference with Friday's win. The Spartans, 3-3 in the American Rivers Conference sit in a fourth place tie after Luther College beat Buena Vista University 3-1 on Friday night. Just two league games remain to seperate the log jam in the middle of the standings.
UD finished the night hitting .230 after attempting 113 kills. Grace Hintze led with 10 kills, trailed closely by Darby Hawtrey who had nine. The Spartans served well earning nine service aces on the night and ended the evening with 68 defensive digs. The duo of Kara Wright and Grace Strawser each had 14 and Hann Horsfield collected 10.
UD returns tomorrow back in A-R-C action when they host the Simpson College Storm who lost to Loras College on Friday 3-0.
