Spartans Women's Golf Lead by Seven Strokes in A-R-C Championships

Ames, Iowa --- The University of Dubuque put three players in the individual Top-10 and took the first-round lead at the American Rivers Conference Women's Golf Championship. The Spartans carded a 335, seven strokes clear of second-place Luther (342). Central is third (343) with Wartburg close behind (346).
The 2019 American Rivers Conference Women's Golf Championship will be played over a single weekend, Saturday-Sunday-Monday 54-hole stroke play tournament, October 5-7. Ames Country Club Golf Course, Ames, Iowa will serve as the 2019 championship site, while Nebraska Wesleyan will be the host institution. All three days will begin at 10:00 a.m. with split tee times being implemented on Monday, only.
The low medalist today was Emily Opsal, who shot 76 with a tournament-high 12 pars. She birdied one hole. Dubuque's Daniela Miranda was the low-scorer for Dubuque, shooting 80 on 11 pars and no birdies. Luther's Moran Kranz also shot 80. Simpson's Hannah Gordan stands fourth after carding an 82.
The players battled wet conditions all day, though the rain cleared for the 1:00 p.m. shotgun start. Play was originally slated for a 10:00 a.m. start off the first tee. The teams will be back at Ames Country Club tomorrow for a 10:00 a.m. start. The tournament finishes up Monday with the final 18 holes.
