Feb 26, 2020

DECORAH, Iowa – The University of Dubuque track and field teams will head to Luther College this weekend for the 2020 American Rivers Conference Indoor Championships. Action in Decorah will begin Friday morning and continue through Saturday night.

Heading into the conference championships, the Spartan men have two individuals ranked in the top 20 of their respective events, while the UD women have eight. On the men’s side it is Colfay Pointer and DaMon Street. Pointer currently has the seventh best time in the nation, second best in the conference, in the 400m, while the freshman Street is tied for 13th in the men’s high jump at 6-8 ¾, which is also good enough for the second best mark in the A-R-C.

Alison Beeman leads the charge for the Spartan women, coming into the championships with the 10th best time or better in three different events. Beeman currently ranks 7th in the 60m dash, 10th in the 400m and has the best time in the nation in the 200m dash. In the 400m, Olivia Costley edged Beeman by .01 of a second to sit ninth in the nation. Beeman and Costley have teamed up with Heather Muntz and Abby Smith to have the third best time in the 4x400 relay in the A-R-C and 16th in the country.

In the field events, Alyssa Skrove has the top mark of all A-R-C jumpers in the triple jump with a top jump of 38-3/4, which is good enough for 15th in division III. Kayla Slowick and Caroline Ferguson will head into weekend with the top two throws in the women’s shot put. Their throws of 45-11 ¾ and 45-6 ½, have them sixth and eighth in the nation, respectively.
