UD 2, Carroll 1

How It Happened
-20 minutes in it looked like UD had the first goal of the contest after a header went in the goal after a free kick from just outside the 18 but it called off due to offsides.
-Mathias Ericcsosn made his presence felt moment later when he sent a rocket of a shot from about 16 yards out, but the Carroll goalie made a full extension, diving save as the ball was curving away from him.
-Carroll was the first team to break through, after a long ball from the other side of midfield was sent into the box to a streaking Pioneer, who touched it with the back of his right foot from the left side of the box, and trickled into the net for the 1-0 Carroll lead.
-The momentum turned in the second half and the Spartans were on the attack much more often, including a Lucas Von Braun laser that went just left of the net.
-In the 65th minute, Josh Merkel sent a ball sky-high into the box from about 30 yards out, where it found the head of Johnny Kraemer, who got it past the Pioneer goalie to even the score at one all.
-In a physical game that featured 10 total cards, it was the Carroll who got a player sent off in the 71st minute, allowing the Spartans to play a man-up for the remaining 19 minutes.
-The Spartans took full advantage of playing a man-up and continued to put the pressure on the Pioneer defense, when the Pioneers committed yet another foul, this one just outside the top of the box leading to a UD free kick. UD’s Jonny Muller took the free kick and sent a rifle into the top, right part of the net to give UD’s it first lead of the night at 2-1 with 14 minutes remaining.
-The UD defense was able to prevent any big scoring threat by the Pioneers in the final 14 minutes to hand UD its first victory of the season.
