Volleyball Finish 1-3 at Augsburg Invite

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The University of Dubuque volleyball time jumped out to a quick 6-0 record this season, but would finish 1-3 at the Augsburg University Invitational. The Spartans won their first match 3-0 over George Fox before dropping match two to UW-La Crosse 2-3, match three to University of St. Thomas 0-3, and to the hosts Augusburg University 0-3.

Kara Wright leads the team with 77 kills, trailed closely by Darby Hintze with 60, and Grace Hintze with 59. As a team the Spartans are hitting .148 and have 355 total kills in 32 sets played. Kate Messino leads the setters with 239 or an average of 7.71 a set. UD has 46 service aces and Grace Strawser and Hanna Horsfield lead with 12 and 11 respectively.

Defensively Strawser is nearing the 200 dig mark and finished the weekend with a season total of 191 and 5.97 a set. UD has been tough at the net and have 11 solo blocks and and 82 assisted blocks. Rylee Andresen has the high mark of five solos and 27 block assists.

UD is 6-3 overall and will travel to play at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa on Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
