Volleyball Lose in Five Set Match to Pioneers

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - The University of Dubuque volleyball team travelled across the river to face the UW-Platteville on Pioneers on Wednesday night. The Spartrans jumped out and quickly took set one by a 25-12 score. The host Pioneers rallied back on their homecoming week to win sets two and three by a 25-15, 26-24 mark. UD fought and led throughout the fourth set and capturing it by a 25-22 margin. In the final set, UD led early, only to have the Pioneers capture the set and match with a 15-13 score.

Kara Wright led UD in kills with 21 followed by Kendra Witte who had 12 and Sarrah Farraday who finished the night with six. Wright and teammate Rylee Andresen both compiled two blocks in the loss. Kate Messino had 39 assists and Grace Strawser earned 24 digs, trailed by Hanna Horsfield (21), and Wright (15).

The Spartans (14-10 overall) will host Marian University in Stoltz Sports Center on Friday, Oct. 18 at 7:30 p.m. during homecoming week and Senior Night for UD.
