Box Score

WAVERLY, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women’s basketball team fell on the road to the seventh ranked Wartburg Knights, 103-56.

The Spartan offense was stifled all afternoon by the top team in the American Rivers Conference, giving up the first five points of the game. Lauren Giffith drilled a three to get the Spartans back within two points but that was as close as the Spartans would be for the remainder of the contest.

The UD offense was limited to just 28.6% shooting on 20-70 from the field while Wartburg made 32-61 field goals for 52.5%. The Spartans defense did force the Knights into 17 turnovers, turning those into 12 points off turnovers. UD battled inside, allowing just 30 points in the paint, while scoring 26 points in the paint themselves.

Tabria Thomas and Kathleen Mathias each had 11 points to lead the Spartans. Lauren Griffith and Josie Thomas would both sink three, three pointers to finish with nine points each.

The Spartans start a three game home stand on Wednesday, Jan 8th when Coe College comes to Dubuque with a 5:30 tip time.
