DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women’s soccer team went into overtime for the second consecutive game and tied for the second consecutive game, this time against Luther, 1-1.

UD  1, Luther 1 (2OT)

How It Happened
-In the 8th minute, it was the Norse who drew first blood. Luther used a series of quick passes on a break to lead to a one-on-one chance with UD goalie Victoria Roethler and the Norse converted to put UD in an early 1-0 hole.
-In the 28th minute, Isabelle Robinson broke free on the right side of the box, earning her own one-on-one with the goalie, however, Luther’s goalkeeper came up with a diving save.
-The Norse controlled the pace of play in the first half and had a possession advantage of 55%-45% over the Spartans in the first half.
-It was Robinson who was in the mix again for the Spartans in the 70th minute. Once again she broke free on the right side of the field and once again, it was a diving tip save from the Norse goalie to keep the Spartans scoreless.
-In the 72nd minute, Elana Krasowski took a UD throw in and lofted into the box where Amanda Chlebek headed it off of a Norse defender and into the box for the equalizer.
-With 11 seconds remaining and the score still knotted at one all, the Spartans had a free kick from about 25 yards out on the left side but UD’s header attempt sailed out of bounds and sent the game to overtime.
-Brooke Brodzinski was inches away from ending the game in the 96th minute, but her laser of a shot went off the crossbar.
-In the 106th minute, the Norse had a fast break of their own, but UD senior Alexa Martin came flying up from behind the steal the ball away and clear it out of danger.
-Neither team would be able to find the back of the net in either golden goal overtime, ending the game in a 1-1 tie.
