Box Score

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women’s soccer team used two first half goals to cruise past the Knox College Prairie Fire, 2-0 on Wednesday night at Oyen Field.

UD 2, Knox 0

How It Happened
-With both offenses getting off to sluggish starts, it was the Spartans who struck first in the 22nd minute when Brooke Brodzinski netted the first goal of her career on a high lofted shot right outside the 18 yard box off a pass from Molly Schiltz
-It looked as if the Brodzinksi goal would be the lone goal for either team in the first half but Jordan Cadena ran out with a long pass from Carolena Lund, who made the goalie miss with a quick move to her right and put it into the open net for the 2-0 UD lead in the 45th minute.
-UD had a great scoring chance in the 79th minute when a perfect cross found Jordan Cadena but Cadena just missed her second goal of the game when the shot sailed high.
-The Spartan defense stymied the Prairie Fire offense all night, limiting Knox to just for shots on goal over the 90 minutes, without any real scoring threats coming on those four shots.
-UD held Knox without a shot for the final 14 minutes of the contest
